Founded in 1997, GamCare is one of the leading providers of information, advice and support for anyone affected by gambling harms. It operates the National Gambling Helpline, delivers free treatment services across multiple regions in Great Britain, and raises awareness about gambling harms through a variety of prevention-based programmes.
The Role
Are you passionate about creating workplaces where people feel safe, supported and able to do their best work? At GamCare, we’re looking for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager to help shape a positive and proactive approach to colleague wellbeing and workplace experience.
Working as part of the People & OD Team, you’ll play a key role in embedding a healthy, inclusive and resilient working environment across GamCare’s hybrid workforce. This is a varied role that brings together strategic thinking, practical delivery and strong partnership working. You will also act as GamCare’s competent person for health and safety, ensuring effective governance, compliance, risk assessment and incident reporting arrangements.
You will help ensure our approach is informed by evidence, colleague insight and best practice, while providing the expertise and confidence needed to support safe, sustainable and engaging ways of working.
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings sound technical knowledge, strong relationship-building skills and a genuine commitment to improving colleague wellbeing. You will have:
- A recognised health and safety qualification (such as NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent).
- Experience delivering wellbeing programmes and initiatives that support employee experience.
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, risk management and compliance.
- Experience working in hybrid or remote environments.
- The ability to analyse data and colleague feedback and translate findings into practical action.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A passion for creating safe, healthy, inclusive and engaging workplaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead GamCare’s colleague health, wellbeing and people experience approach, ensuring it is practical, evidence-led and aligned with organisational priorities.
- Design and coordinate wellbeing initiatives, campaigns and resources for colleagues across the organisation.
- Provide managers and colleagues with practical guidance on wellbeing, work-related stress, psychological safety and safe working practices.
- Oversee health and safety arrangements for hybrid, remote and office-based working, including homeworking, lone working and display screen equipment.
- Use workforce data, absence trends, engagement feedback and colleague insight to identify priorities and recommend improvements.
- Working with the HR team to manage relationships with relevant external providers, including occupational health, Employee Assistance Programme, wellbeing and health and safety partners.
- Contribute to culture and colleague experience activity that supports an inclusive, accessible and supportive workplace.
- Support environmental sustainability activity by monitoring progress, coordinating actions and reporting on objectives.
